Lotus visits the Estates

The Cleveland area has a new location to appeal to car buffs called Club Motor Estates. Located in Broadview Heights, they appeared on the map last year and started holding events involving cars and food, once a month. CALL members Kurt von Leyser attended the October event and afterwards told Sandy that the organizers wanted to get in touch with the Lotus group.

We ran over one afternoon and met Jeff Badger and his sister Denise and toured their facility. A very interesting place, and they already have Phase One “car condos” sold and under construction. Phase Two will be starting soon for those of us with more cars than garage space.

They also have a beautiful banquet room, and once we returned from Hilton Head they invited CALL to bring a few cars to their November event, which would be a celebrating the Cleveland Indians run to the World Series. For the November 20th weekend, we brought our Cortina and Sandy’s Evora over along with Ron Kall’s Europa and positioned them in the center of the ballroom. When we arrived on Sunday for the event, our cars were joined by a Porsche GT4 track car and a Firebird in the lobby. It is interesting that all these cars were white. We met several interesting car buffs and ate ball-park style food while watching the highlights of the Worlds Series. A great way to pass what turned out to be a very sloppy day.

Monday turned out to be much nicer and we picked up all our toys. Jeff and Denise are wonderful people and we ended up inviting them to CALL.s Christmas Party, where they seemed to enjoy themselves. Hopefully, Cleveland has a new location for fun automotive events that should last for a long time. We will keep CALL members informed of future interesting events at Club motor Estates.
